Early or late season dispersed camping: White Sands and Lincoln National Forrest, NM

Our first camping trip of the season went South to White Sands National Monument and the Lincoln National Forrest for mild temperatures, pistachios and spectacular New Mexico scenery. It's the perfect destination for an early or late season camping trip and for a bit of (doable) off-roading. It is also the perfect destination for practicing dispersed camping.

The Medano Pass & Great Sand Dunes, CO - Testing our new (used) Oztent RV-5 as a family

After much debate and flirtation with instant tents and roof top tents, a used Oztent big enough for the 5 of us showed up on the Expedition Portal. An offer too good to refuse. So we set off for Pueblo, CO, to meet with seller. From there we backtracked towards the Medano Pass on the way to Great Sand Dunes National Park.

It was a bit unnerving leaving behind our well loved Springbar tent, assuming the Oztent would work out just fine. It at least looked pretty neat on the roof top (which is really all that matters if you ask my husband).
